Help your community protect some of its most beautiful natural resources by keeping an eye out for plant thieves. In recent months, trees, bushes, and flowering plants valued at more than $15,000 have been stolen from City of Palm Desert property.
The thefts have occurred in parks, roadway medians, and at the Visitor Center. Stolen plants include Perry’s Agava, Mexican Blue Palms, and Golden Barrel Cactus. Police reports have been filed in connection with these crimes, but the City needs your help to prevent future thefts.
Authorized work crews generally install and maintain City landscaping between the hours of 6 a.m. (7 a.m. in winter months) and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you see someone working on City landscaping at a different time, please report it by calling the Palm Desert Police Department at 836-1600.
