Dispose of used oil and oil filters safely and conveniently during the City of Palm Desert’s Free Used Oil and Oil Filter Recycling event on Saturday, March 27, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Mountain View Tire & Service, 44-420 Town Center Way (next to Westfield Palm Desert).

Participants who bring in a used oil filter along with their used oil for recycling will receive a free coupon for $5 off their next oil change at Mountain View. Coupons are limited to one per person.

Used oil must be stored properly in a clean, sealed, uncontaminated container. Workers at the event will accept up to five gallons of used oil per vehicle. It is illegal to transport more than five gallons of used oil in a personal vehicle.

Mountain View Tire & Service will also be conducting free tire pressure checks during the event. Properly inflated tires last longer. Maintaining the correct tire pressure also provides better fuel economy, saving you money at the pump. Underinflated tires contribute to rapid and uneven tread wear, which can cause tire failure, accidents, vehicle damage, or worse.

Anyone who is unable to participate in this event can dispose of their used oil and oil filters free of charge at the following certified collection centers, all conveniently located in Palm Desert.
